The annual Fillmore Elementary School Wax Museum brought out some interesting celebrities last week. The program, sponsored by the Fillmore PTO, saw youngsters in grades 3-5 dress up and display themselves and their accomplishments as if they were in a wax museum. Lorena Brown, a fifth-grader in Mrs. McCammack’s class came as actress Lucille Ball, catching the eye of first-grader Owen Foxx.

Appearing as President Ronald Reagan, Morgan Lantrip, a fourth-grader in Mrs. Danner’s class, addresses parent Gary Walters and his first-grade daughter, Josey Walters. The program has each student picking a famous person, reading a book about them, doing a book report and making a tri-fold poster with pictures and timeline events. Then, dressing up as the person, they stand still like a wax figure with a button to push when someone wants them to tell about their character.

It’s no small step for Jayden Trivett, a third-grader in Mrs. Richmond’s class at Fillmore Elementary, to set foot at the annual Fillmore School Live Wax Museum as astronaut Neil Armstrong. Fourth-grade teacher, Wendy Danner admires Trivett’s efforts for all mankind at an event sponsored last week by the Fillmore PTO. For the program, each student picks a famous person, reads a book about them, does a book report and makes a poster with pictures and timeline events. The student then dresses as the character and stands still like a wax figure until a button is pushed to have them talk and they tell about their character.
