Motorist airlifted following inversion Monday evening

REELSVILLE — One motorist was flown by medical helicopter after a motor vehicle accident south of Reelsville Monday evening.

First responders were dispatched to the area of 9410 S. CR 675 West at about 3:30 p.m. for an accident in which the motorist was injured and entrapped.

The motorist, identified as Sharon Brown, 78, of Reelsville, was southbound on County Road 650 West driving a 2012 Mazda sedan when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a narrow concrete bridge. The vehicle then flipped and came to rest on its top.

Brown, who was pinned between the steering wheel and the windshield, was extricated from the vehicle within 10 minutes. She was then flown from the scene an Indianapolis hospital by an Indiana University Health LifeLine helicopter out of Terre Haute.

The Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County EMS and the Indiana State Police responded on the ground.

According to a press release from ISP, Brown was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.

Curtis Wrecker was called to retrieve the vehicle.

The investigating officer was ISP Trooper Matthew Rea.
