Semi tractor-trailer with corn overturns Monday
BAINBRIDGE -- A semi tractor-trailer hauling a load of corn overturned and spilled its load in an incident northeast of Bainbridge Monday morning.
First responders were dispatched to the area of 8021 N. CR 250 East at about 9:40 a.m. for the crash, which occurred on a bend in the roadway near the residence.
It was determined that the driver, identified as Harold Staten, 69, Brownsburg, was attempting to go through the corner and went off the roadway. He then overcorrected, causing the load to shift and the semi to turn over.
The Bainbridge and Roachdale volunteer fire departments, as well as the Bainbridge and Roachdale police departments, Putnam County EMS and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
Bainbridge Town Marshal Ronnie Campbell told the Banner Graphic that the semi, which was registered to Buescher Farms, was carrying about 1,000 bushels of corn with an estimated value of $6-7,000.
Staten complained of shoulder pain and was transported from the scene.
The roadway was closed as of 10:55 a.m. and reopened by 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Curtis Wrecker picked up the semi.
