GCC/Gobin outreach meal serves nearly 400 meals

The combined efforts of volunteers from two local churches resulted in nearly 400 meals to people in Putnam County who might not have otherwise enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Thanksgiving outreach meal, organized by volunteers from Greencastle Christian Church and Gobin Church, served 389 miles, including 95 to officers and staff at Putnamville Correctional Facility.

This was year 19 of meal service at GCC, which combined its effort with Gobin in 2021.

“There were struggles with pie and noodle donations we ended up having plenty,” the Thanksgiving outreach team said.

Sprinkl and Everson wished to thank the generosity of Greencastle Christian Church, Gobin Church and Greencastle Presbyterian Church, along wiht Hendershot’s Service Center. They are also grateful to the numrous volunteers who donated pies and noodles and then the ones who prayed for them during the weeks leading up to the meal.

“We are planning and looking forward to 2022 when we can celebrate 20 years of serving meals to Putnam County on Thanksgiving,” the statement further read. “This year was the most meals we have ever served. Thank you to everyone and may you have a very blessed holiday season.”
