Cloverdale police seize upward of $100K in drugs
CLOVERDALE — A Thursday-evening drug arrest led to the service of two search warrants in the overnight hours and the seizure of a combination of cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin.
As a result of the investigation, 43-year-old Nicholas S. Hayden of Cloverdale as well as a juvenile were taken into custody, and drugs valued at between $75,000 and $100,000 were seized.
Cloverdale Town Marshal Steve Hibler told the Banner Graphic the investigation began when Hayden approached a Cloverdale officer and told him he had something to give him. The suspect then allegedly took the officer to a residence and gave him the methamphetamine.
Additionally, the man was allegedly smoking a vape device with methamphetamine in it.
Hayden was taken into custody, but based upon evidence, Deputy Marshal Wade Warren requested and was granted search warrants for an address on Truman Drive in Cloverdale and another off of U.S. 40 in the Mount Meridian area.
Officers from Cloverdale PD and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office served the warrants, finding a marijuana grow in the attic of the garage at the Cloverdale residence.
At the Mount Meridian location, the officers found what was believed to be between half and three quarters of a pound of cocaine, 20 grams of possible methamphetamine and about a quarter pound of marijuana, some of it packaged for sale.
A juvenile male and female were also at the location, with the 17-year-old male taken into custody.
Hayden was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 7 p.m. Thursday for Level 4 felony possession of methamphetamine and Class C misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
Hibler also reported Friday that Warren would be seeking arrest warrants for additional parties believed to have been involved.
The CPD investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Indiana State Police.
