A. Dale Hester

A. Dale Hester, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.

Dale was born on Jan. 9, 1939 to the late Albert and Irene (Crowe) Hester.

He married Nelda (Bentley) Hester on Nov. 21, 1959 in Parkersburg.

Dale was a graduate of New Market High School in the class of 1957.

He was a farmer and a school bus driver for the South Montgomery Community School Corporation for over 30 years. After retirement, he drove shuttles at the Indy 500 for eight years and the Indiana State Fair at Purdue Hospitality for 10 years.

Dale was a member of Whitesville Christian Church and a former member of the New Hope and Parkersburg Christian churches.

Dale is survived by his children, Gaye VanValkenburg of Eagle Creek and Timothy (Melissa) Hester of Roachdale; grandchildren Amber, Ethan and Trevor; great-grandchildren Laine, Raylan, Elijah and Delilah; and sister-in-law Sallie Hester.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife Nelda; and brother Russel “Rusty” Hester.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Russellville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Dale’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
