Angie Helton, 77, of Bainbridge, formerly of Danville, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Danville, on Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m. with visitation prior beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Angela Jean Newhart was born in Frankfort to the late John T. and Barbara J. (Hackerd) Newhart. Her family moved to Western Heights in Danville when Angie was in the fifth grade.

She graduated from Danville High School with the class of 1962 and went on to attend Indiana Business School.

On Oct. 2, 1965, she married Tom Helton, her best friend and sweetheart since the 7th grade.

Angie had worked as a secretary at Eli Lilly before she and Tom worked side by side for 42 years as the owners of Home Lumber Company in Danville. After the closing of Home Lumber Company in 2008, she worked for Lawson and Co. before retiring in 2017.

She enjoyed being outside gardening, hiking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Tri Kappa, Brick Chapel United Methodist Church and the Indianapolis Hiking Club.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Tom Helton, son Brad Helton of Bainbridge, daughter Cara (Tony) Peterson of Danville and sister Rebecca (Jerry) Kincade of Winterset, Iowa. Also surviving are four granddaughters, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Angie was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Anita Lynn Helton.
