Selena Francis (Hall) Hanlon gained her beautiful golden wings and joined her soulmate, surrounded by her family on Aug. 13, 2022.

Selena was born in Waynesburg, Ky., on June 12, 1930, the daughter of Thomas and Goldie (Cornett) Hall. Her family moved to Crawfordsville when she was just a child. She had attended Crawfordsville School and often talked about working at Merrit Shoe Store from the ages of 14 to 18, and continued her tradition of collecting shoes.

She met and fell in love with her handsome musician Ronald G. Hanlon and they married on June 26, 1948.

She enjoyed going to garage sales, casinos and spending time with her friends and loved ones.

Selena was given her first guitar by her father to play in church. She became well known to everyone for her amazing God gifted talent. She was the best rhythm guitarist and had most beautiful voice, a blessing that allowed her to perform and open shows for many famous people and took her to the Grand Ole Opry.

She is survived by her children, Ronald W. (Karen) Hanlon of Texas, Danny (Buffy) Hanlon of Bainbridge and Lavonda (Louie) Garrett of Bainbridge; grandchildren Ronnie (Vanessa) Hanlon, Jeremiah (Casey) Hanlon, Jon Hanlon, Crystal (Matthew) Phillips, Louie Jr. (Kate) Garrett and Lee (Jessica) Garrett; two stepgrandchildren, Grant Shockey and Bill (Stacy) Shockey; 10 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special friend (her sister), Earlene Herring; a special niece, Diana Brown; more than just friends, her two children, Roger and Susie Riggin; and several nieces and nephews.

Welcoming her home are a brother, Harold Hall; three sisters, Stella Young, Christine Melvin and Geneva Reed; two grandchildren, Bradley Wayne Hanlon and Rene Darlene Hanlon; and her beloved husband of 53 years, Ronald G. Hanlon.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
