Cathy Records

Cathy Ann Records, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 30, 2022, in Terre Haute.

Cathy was born to the late Max and Christine (Adelhelm) Records in Greencastle on Sept. 19, 1950.

Cathy graduated from Greencastle High School in 1968. After high school she attended Olivet University in Kankakee, Ill., and went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in elementary education at Indiana State University. She taught a few years in the Indianapolis public school system.

She switched careers and opened a small business accounting firm in Indianapolis. After closing the accounting firm, she became a full-time antique dealer up until the time of her death. She operated her antique business, The Widow’s Dowry, out of her home.

Cathy was a member and thrived spiritually, loving her pastor and church family at New Life Fellowship in Terre Haute. Cathy loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed serving in the food pantry at church. Her church family adopted her as “Aunt Cathy.”

Before the death of her husband, Duane Sorensen, in January 2020, she loved to work in their garden and preserve fruits and vegetables. She loved her dogs Gunther, Gabe, Gideon and Solomon, who were full-blooded German Shepherds — they were her babies.

Cathy was preceded in death by parents and her husband, as well as one brother, Monty Records.

Cathy is survived by her brothers, Terry Records (Rebecca) of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Timothy Records (Karen) of Cromwell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m.-noon at New Life Fellowship North Campus, 1851 N. Chamberlain Rd., Terre Haute. A funeral service will begin at noon. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
