Banner Graphic: How important are sports to you, and what have you learned from them?
Tristan Peck: “Football is pretty much the only thing that I do. I used to be really out of shape and lazy. I started football back up sophomore year and started to get in better shape. Football made me feel better about myself, being in shape and being active.”
BG: Talk about each of your sports.
TP: “I’ve played football ever since I was in first grade and have always played for Cloverdale. I love the sport and love the brotherhood behind the sport. I’ll be doing track in the spring.”
BG: You’ve been around through some lean times at Cloverdale. How was getting the win against Brown County, especially holding on to a small lead as long as you did?
TP: “It was probably one of the best moments of my life. I can’t really put it into words but once that timer ran out, there was so much relief that ran over me. I didn’t know what was going to happen, especially with only a two-point lead. The stands were packed for the first time that I can remember.”
BG: What’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you in sports?
TP: “Getting laid out on a kickoff return.”
BG: What does your game day routine look like?
TP: “I go to school and always have my ear pods in afterwards, listening to music and drinking as much water as I can. If it’s a home game, I’ll go back home, relax and unwind before a game. If it’s a road game, I’ll stay here, turn on the noise cancellation in the pods and try to mentally focus on the game.”
BG: Do you have any favorite college/pro sports teams or athletes you follow?
TP: “I don’t really watch sports that much. If there’s a game on, I’ll watch it but don’t really follow a team.”
BG: What else do you do at school besides things involving sports?
TP: “I just do football.”
BG: What do you like to do outside of school and sports?
TP: “I like to fish and hang out with my friends a lot. We go out and find things to do.”
BG: What are your favorites in movies, TV and music?
TP: “I like comedy movies with Seth Rogan, Adam Sandler, guys like that. I watch ‘Breaking Bad’ on Netflix, as well as ‘Last Chance U.’ I listen to all kinds of music.”
BG: Are you a person that wants to watch TV shows and movies or stream something from YouTube, Twitch, TikTok etc.?
TP: “I’m not a real social person; I tend to keep to myself a lot and watch TV if I have spare time.”
BG: What is something you have never done before that you would like to do someday?
TP: “Skydiving.”
BG: What is your biggest fear?
TP: “Drowning.”
BG: You’ve been placed in charge of making dinner. What’s on the menu?
TP: “I hope they like pizza rolls. I can do stuff in the oven or air fryer.”
BG: Do you have any pets?
TP: “I have two cats, a dog, Buck, and two horses.”
BG: If your house were on fire, all living things were already out and you have your keys, cell phone, wallet/purse etc., what is one thing you would go back and get?
TP: “Probably my Xbox so I can watch TV.”
BG: If you were to describe your personality in one word, what would that word be and why?
TP: “Shy. I don’t talk to people a lot. I keep to myself and I have a group of friends but I don’t go out of my way to talk to people.”
BG: What has been your favorite place to visit?
TP: “Pigeon Forge, Tenn.”
BG: What was your favorite school field trip?
TP: “In kindergarten, going to the aquarium at the Indianapolis Zoo and petting the sharks.”
BG: How important is support from your family and classmates to your success?
TP: “If my dad didn’t support me as much as he did, I don’t think I’d be playing football, so it’s very important.”
BG: Describe your overall school experience both academically and athletically.
TP: “Academically, it has its ups and down; good and bad classes, just depending on what you get. Athletically, the coaching staff from last year and this year have been very helpful and helped me learn a lot.”
BG: If your school was to offer a class it currently doesn’t, what would you want to see taught?
TP: “Woodworking or a shop class.”
BG: What are your plans for after high school, and what career are you headed toward?
TP: “I’ll probably try to enroll at IUPUI and go there for welding.”

TP: “Chemistry with Ms. Hoffman taught me a lot. Mr. Lotz has helped a lot as well.”
BG: After college, if you had your choice, would you want to live in the mountains, on the beach or in the neighborhood?
TP: “I’d like to live in a neighborhood but where I could drive a few miles and be out in nature.”
BG: Do you think high school has gone fast, and are you going to miss it?
TP: “Now that I think back on it, it has. I definitely will miss it because I will miss my friends; I won’t be able to stay friends with everyone and will definitely miss that.”
