Robert Wentz Gilley

Robert Wentz Gilley, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at his residence.

Robert was born on April 14, 1940, the son of Wentz and Ora (Glass) Gilley.

He was a 1959 graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Mr. Gilley worked for 35 years at IBM in data input, until they closed in 1987. He liked to fish and enjoyed catching up with friends.

Survivors include his two children, David Gilley (wife Myrona) of Fillmore and Kim Betz (husband Leonard) of Dale; four grandchildren, Erin Gilley of Roachdale, Emily Gilley of Fillmore, Dr. Morgan Betz of Evansville and Nicholas Betz (wife Mallori) of Dale; two great-grandchildren, Maeve Betz and Mila Betz; a special grand-niece, Dawn Lord; several nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Bella and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Janice Kay Gilley, three brothers and a sister.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service.
