U.S. 231 North closed for power lines down

U.S. 231 North was shut down following a motor vehicle incident involving a semi and power lines.

Greencastle firefighters and police, as well as the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, were dispatched to the area of County Road 200 North at about 6:40 p.m. for a snapped power pole.

The driver was reported as being out of the vehicle and uninjured.

Parke County REMC was called to the scene.

The Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to cover Greencastle Fire's station.

Greencastle Fire reported at about 7:40 p.m. that power lines were off the semi's trailer. The trailer was released from the scene soon after.

The roadway was reopened after Greencastle Fire went back into service.
