Monica A. O’Brien

Monica A. (Heck) O’Brien, 75, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent, Anderson.

She was born on May 10, 1947, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of Emil and Alma (Reschke) Heck.

Monica was the owner and operator of Sunshine Janitorial for many years, both in Syracuse, N. Y., and Greencastle.

She was a loving mom and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Monica is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Allen) Story of Anderson; two grandchildren, Andrew (Paige) Story and Caren (Walter) Hestand; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Riley, Callie and Wesley; siblings Martha (John) Palencar of New York, Marie Heck of New York, Greg (Jaculin) Heck of Florida, Madelyn (Bob) Bramhall of New York, Gary (Cindy) Heck of New York and Gerard (Irina) Heck of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert W. O’Brien.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Anderson. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
