• At 8 p.m. Tuesday, Robert Johnson, 25, Indianapolis, was given a summons by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped at Zinc Mill Road and South Street, Johnson was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated the following recent property-damage crash:

• At 3 a.m. on Tuesday, William J. Voorhees, 24, Greencastle, was eastbound on Interstate 70 at the 31.5-mile marker in a 1994 Oldsmobile Delta 88 when he fell asleep and ran off the road.

In doing so, the car struck the end of a guardrail on the south side of the road, ultimately coming to rest in the travel lane.

Trevor S. Clay, 27, St. Louis, told Deputy Todd Hopkins he was also eastbound in a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer and that as he crested a hill on a curve, he came to the car in the road, which had no visible lights. He was unable to avoid colliding with the car.

Voorhees told Hopkins he was trying to wave traffic over at the time. He was evaluated by EMS but refused further treatment.

There was heavy front and rear damage to Voorhee’s vehicle, and it had to be towed. The tractor-trailer had only minor damage and was driven from the scene.

Hopkins estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
