Lynne Catherine Steele

Lynne Catherine Steele, 74, of Brazil, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Born Sept. 4, 1948 in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of John Henry and Ann (Meeks) Myers.

She attended L’Anse Creuse High School in Mt. Clemons, Mich.

Lynne had worked as the kitchen manager at Asbury Towers Healthcare for several years. She had also worked at Hogate Hall at DePauw University.

She was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW and American Legion, all of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edgar Steele Jr; brother John Myers; sisters Gail McLin and Anne Keller; in-laws, Edgar Sr. and Gail Steele and brother-in-law Gary Steele.

Lynne is survived by her daughter, Margo Ives; grandson Keegan Ives; a brother, Robert (wife Mary Jane) Myers; a sister, Carol (husband Tom) Stegner; nephew/son Chad (wife Cathy) McLin; sister-in-law Donna (husband Jerry) Williams; brother-in-laws Mike (wife Rhonda) Steele and Bryan (wife Peggy) Steele; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 23 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lynne’s memory to the Humane Society of Putnam County or Putnam County Comprehensive Services.
