Gloria Teresa Kersey

Gloria Teresa Kersey, 87 of Roachdale, went to her heavenly home on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 31, 1935 to Vincent and Frances Naudus.

On Oct. 23, 1954, she married the love of her life, Larry Kersey, and they shared 68 wonderful years together.

Gloria attended Danny Kaye Public School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She worked for many years at Barricini Candies in downtown New York City. She enjoyed helping her husband Larry serve at the local volunteer fire departments in both New York and Roachdale. In her later years she enjoyed walking around town and talking to whomever she saw, and also enjoyed going and playing bingo.

Gloria previously attended both Haw Creek Church and Whitesville Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Her memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; four children, Larry V. (Melanie) Kersey, Timothy E. Kersey, Teresa Ann Kersey-Hopkins and Michael T. (Vanessa) Kersey; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Walter Biliniski; along with her loving family in New York, Florida, North Carolina, Louisana and Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three children; and siblings Johnny, Dick, Dottie and Connie.

A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department, 202 N. Indiana St., Roachdale, IN 46172, with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating. She will be laid to rest at Roachdale Cemetery. Friends are invited for a time of visitation on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire station.

Gloria had a passion for supporting the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department. By doing so, memorials in her memory may be made to the department. Envelopes will be provided.
