County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 12:51 a.m. Aron J. Monnett, 38, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Wednesday

• At 10:38 p.m. Joshua W. Turner, 41, Seymour, was taken into custody on a pair of local warrants.

• At 9:01 p.m. Shane Shorter, 43, Brazil, was housed at the jail for invasion of privacy.

• At 7:44 p.m. Gregory A. Knouff, 64, Cloverdale, was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 4:08 a.m. Rose M. Heaton, 58, Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 11:53 p.m. Shawn M. Faulkner, 19, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 10:16 p.m. Thomas E. Schultheis, 56, Cloverdale, was booked in on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 2:10 p.m. Shane E. Graves, 49, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11 a.m. Ira L. Brown, 30, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for trafficking with an inmate.

• At 8:40 a.m. Lacey D. Graham, 35, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for battery.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Terra N. Cooksey, 38, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Taken into custody at an East Washington Street residence, Cooksey lodged in the jail on a Putnam County warrant for petition to revoke probation relative to an initial charge of possession of methamphetamine.

One recent citation was issued by city officers:

• At 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, William Forbush, 41, Greencastle, was cited by Officer McDaniel.

Stopped at Franklin and Vine streets, Forbush was issued a citation for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County deputies investigated a pair of recent car-deer crashes.

• At 7:23 a.m. on Wednesday, Larry T. Claycomb, 39, North Salem, was eastbound on County Road 1200 South in a 2011 Honda Accord when he hit a deer.

Cpl. Brian Helmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Theresa A. Hammontree, 70, Rockville, was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche when she hit a deer.

Reserve Commander Ken Rozelle estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five incidents since Monday evening:

• At 8:47 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident near the intersection of Indianapolis Road and Veterans Memorial Highway. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 8:51 and assisted with patient assessment. GFD went back into service at 9:06 p.m.

— GFD was dispatched to Lillienthal House at DePauw University on two consecutive runs early Wednesday morning:

• At 12:15 a.m., GFD was dispatched for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:18 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:23 a.m.

• At 12:34 a.m., GFD was dispatched for another fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:37 and again did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset again. GFD went back into service at 12:44 a.m.

• At 8:24 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Kirsch Family Dentistry for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:28 and determined that the activated detector’s head was dirty. The detector head was cleaned, and GFD went back into service at 8:33 a.m.

• At 8:34 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the Percy L. Julian Science and Mathematics Center at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:38 and found a panel in the elevator room emitting smoke after malfunctioning. After securing the power, they assisted maintenance with freeing people trapped in the elevator. GFD ventilated the building before going back into service at 9:25 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to six medical assists and had one disregard during this timeframe.
