Fire at Putnam Inn

Firefighters convene after a basket of towels was found on fire at The Putnam Inn in Greencastle Saturday evening. The Greencastle Fire Department was initially dispatched to the restaurant for a structure fire. The fire was found outside and extinguished, after which the building was checked. Employees found the basket burning in the storage area and threw it out the back door prior to GFD’s arrival. While the storage area sustained some damage, no injuries were reported. The Greencastle Police Department and Putnam County EMS were also present. No cause for the fire has been determined. A box alarm was dropped but disregarded.
