County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 1:18 a.m. Hannah M. Severe, 38, Crawfordsville, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

Wednesday

• At 8:27 p.m. Isaiah J. Sanders, 24, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for domestic battery and invasion of privacy.

• At 7:23 p.m. Kira R. King, 20, homeless, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 10:19 a.m. William D. Bell Jr., 27, Poland, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 12:47 a.m. Stephany R. Knight, 36, Shelbyville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 4:36 a.m. Wednesday, Cody J. McNew, 34, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody on East Washington Street, McNew was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to Putnam County Hospital to have blood drawn before being transported to the jail.

McNew also received a pair of citations from Officer Helmer for operating a motorcycle without proper endorsement and failure to register the motorcycle.

One additional summons was issued by city officers:

• At 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, Sheridan Harvey, 44, Greencastle, was issued a summons from Officer Helmer.

Stopped on North Jackson Street, Harvey was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, Jacob L. Harris, 23, Rockville, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2013 Ford Mustang when he hit a deer.

The collision caused heavy front-end damage, and the car had to be towed.

Reserve Commander Ken Rozelle estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three incidents since Tuesday morning:

• At 4:07 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for an elevator rescue. Firefighters arrived at 4:11 and freed two people from the elevator. GFD went back into service at 4:26 a.m.

• At 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched for a tree in the roadway at 1385 N CR 25 East. Firefighters found a small tree at 6:39 p.m. and removed it. GFD went back into service at 6:48 p.m.

• At 7:01 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Greencastle High School for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:03 and found a pull station had been activated. Maintenance advised that they would ensure the alarm system was in service. GFD went back into service at 7:12 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to four medical assists and had three disregards in and around this timeframe.
