PCSO to host Drug Take Back Day event

Monday, April 17, 2023

In coordination with the national Drug Take Back Day effort on Saturday, April 22, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will be taking part.

Unused prescription drugs may be dropped off at PCSO, 13 Keightly Road, Greencastle, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the general public about the potential for misuse of medications.

The local event has previously been organized and hosted by the Greencastle Police Department under the guidance of former Chief Tom Sutherlin. With Sutherlin now the chief deputy at PCSO, he reached out to GPD, which was supportive of him continuing to participate.

Putnam County residents will actually have a pair of local drop-off locations, with the Putnamville Indiana State Police Post also offering dropoff from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, April 21.

  • IF PCSO is hosting this why are they not listed as an approved disposal site per the DEA? According to the office of diversion control the only site in Putnam County is ISP District 53 Post?
