County Jail

Twelve people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 8:47 p.m. Richard D. Garske, 60, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a pair of local warrants.

• At 8:47 p.m. William D. Neighbors, 45, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 8:03 p.m. Bren A. Donaldson, 33, Roachdale, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:31 p.m. Shane A. Willey, 32, Brazil, was lodged at the jail for auto theft.

• At 12:28 p.m. Reuben L. Kanagy, 31, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:56 a.m. Heather A. Barrett, 40, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for invasion of privacy.

• At 10:11 a.m. Gary L. Patterson, 60, Indianapolis, was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

Tuesday

• At 8:33 p.m. Aaron R. Priest, 48, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

• At 5:48 p.m. Ashleigh L. Hamm, 33, Coatesville, was booked in the jail for probation violation.

Sunday

• At 4:09 p.m. Said S. Sayid, 46, Place, Calif., was lodged at the jail for dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Friday, April 14

• At 3:26 p.m. Megan L. Biggs, 28, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:03 a.m. Nicholas S. Toby, 35, Jasonville, was taken into custody on a writ of body attachment.

City Police

Seven recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 9:39 p.m. Wednesday, Anthony G. Lehman, 21, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Stopped at Hanna and Illinois streets, Lehman was booked into the Putnam County Jail on a charge of criminal mischief.

• At 12:56 p.m. Wednesday, Richard J. Thomas, 46, Coatesville, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at an East Walnut Street residence, Thomas was booked in for domestic battery, criminal confinement and resisting law enforcement.

• At 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Jamon L. Jemison, 44, Noblesville, was arrested by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Taken into custody at a Castlebury residence, Jemison was lodged at the jail on a Putnam County warrant for violation of bond relative to original charges of theft and driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, Patrick W. Briski, 28, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Justin Herd.

Taken into custody at a Center Street residence, Briski was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for criminal mischief.

• At 6:06 p.m. Saturday, Brandon W. Weaver, 50, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Hiatt at the Speedway East gas station.

Weaver was taken into custody for resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Meanwhile, his 18-year daughter, Ziara K.M. Weaver, 18, Greencastle, was also arrested for resisting law enforcement and lodged in the jail.

• At 3:58 p.m. Saturday, Shaun A. Miles, 37, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Brown.

Taken into custody at a North Madison Street residence, Miles was booked in on a Putnam County warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

Two recent summons were also issued by GPD officers:

• At 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Terry Skinner, 40, Monticello, was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped on U.S. 231 North, Skinner was cited for operating without ever having received a license.

• At 1:13 a.m. Saturday, Hayley Price, 27, Cloverdale, was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Price was cited for possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Price was also ticketed for speeding, traveling 47 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent crashes.

• At 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Bradley W. Fidler, 32, Quincy, was traveling on County Road 25 West just south of U.S. 36 in a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he hit a deer.

The vehicle was towed. Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9:24 p.m. on Monday, Rachel E. Moon, 29, Cloverdale, was westbound on State Road 42 in a 2015 Toyota RAV4 when she hit a deer.

Deputy Josh Clark estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 13 incidents since Tuesday morning:

• At 9:24 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD received a direct call for assistance at 101 Longcastle Dr. Firefighters arrived at 9:30 and changed batteries in a smoke detector for the homeowner. GFD went back into service at 9:43 a.m.

• At 10:37 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 446 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:42 and found that smoke detectors were wrapped in tape and Solo cups. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:57 a.m.

• At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:32 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:37 p.m.

• At 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Putnam County Hospital for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 3:02 p.m. and were advised by maintenance that they were working on lines to the sprinkler system and had reset the alarm. GFD went back into service at 3:11 p.m.

• At 5:32 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched for a brush fire at 124 S. CR 175 West. Firefighters found an unattended wood fire at 5:36 and extinguished it. GFD went back into service at about 6 p.m.

• At 7:31 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Nelson & Co. for a gas leak. Firefighters arrived at 7:33 and found that a mowing crew had hit an LP tank, which then rolled and severed its copper pipe. Nothing was found after the air was monitored and the furnace was shut off. GFD went back into service at 8:10 p.m.

• At 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Lucy Rowland Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:44 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:51 p.m.

• At 10 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched for a motor vehicle incident with injuries on Jackson Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10:04 and assisted with patient care and cleaned up debris and fluids. GFD went back into service at 10:35 p.m.

• At 12:11 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Pi Beta Phi at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:14 and were advised by the house mother that the alarm was reset. A smell of marijuana smoke in the lobby was reported. GFD went back into service at 12:20 a.m.

• At 4:27 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 21 Cottonwood Ct. for a smoke scare. Firefighters arrived at 4:32 and were advised by the homeowner that a plastic cutting board was burned after the oven was left on. No fire extensions were found, and GFD went back into service at 4:47 a.m.

• At 12:44 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 815 Tacoma Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:47 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset prior to GFD’s arrival. GFD went back into service at 1:13 p.m.

• At 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with minor injuries at the intersection of Indianapolis Road and North Calbert Way. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:16 and provided traffic support. GFD went back into service at 1:35 p.m.

• At 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD received a direct call for a carbon monoxide alarm at 215 Shadowlawn Ave.. Firefighters arrived at 1:21 and did not detect any CO after monitoring the property. GFD went back into service at 1:33 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to five medical assists, had two disregards and found no incidents on two runs during this timeframe.
