Wurster, Hauskatz to play Parkfest Tuesday

Chris Wurster

Chris Wurster will open the second session of Greencastle Parkfest Tuesday evening, followed by The Hauskatz.

The performances are set for 6:30-8 p.m. at the Robe-Ann Park bandshell.

Wurster started singing in church and school choirs in grade school. He picked up the guitar as a young teenager. He enjoyed playing in bands in high school and college, and later in Colorado. After a hiatus due to career and family, he began performing again in Greencastle after retirement from DePauw. He has played Parkfest, Farmers Markets, open mics, local festivals and most of the Greencastle venues.

Wurster likes to entertain audiences with old favorites, newer covers of singer-songwriters and his own original songs. Mainly a solo performer, he looks forward to having a few “special guests” join him for this year’s Parkfest.

The Hauskatz have been on the Greencastle music scene since 2006. The quintet plays jazz, rock, blues and more — classics and standards with a twist and a wink. The Hauskatz features Carol Hamm on vocals, Bill Hamm on bass, Steve Michael on guitars, Veronica Pejril on keyboards and Rick Provine on drums.

Parkfest takes place each Tuesday in June and July, except July 4. Other performers this summer include June 20: Gus Moon, Peace Among the Plants; June 27: Conner Barcus, Black Market Vinyl; July 11: Justin Monts, Perpetual Journey; July 18: Him&Her, Danny Martin and the Danocasters; and July 25 (family night): Blue Flame, Bluebird Collective.
