Civic League to offer local grants

The Greencastle Civic League is has announced it will start offering grants to help fund projects that make Greencastle a more beautiful place.

The Greencastle Civic League is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing Greencastle through beautification, clean up, cultural development and the arts.

“We have been looking for ways to continue giving back to the community,” Civic League President Anna Harmless. “We created an endowment several years ago with this purpose in mind and now we are ready to take the next step.”

Grant funds will be distiributed to nonprofits that apply for funds in the following areas:

Beautification: Projects that create a more aesthically beautiful Greencastle (e.g., murals, flower planting);

Clean Up: Projects that clean up a particular area of town or fund a type of cleanup (e.g., dumpster day, trash pickup);

Cultural Development: Projects that help preserve, support or further develop the uniqueness of Greencastle (e.g., architecture tour, festival);

Arts: Projects that create new or enhance current artistic opportunities (e.g., music on the square, sculptures).

Any nonprofit can apply for funds. They cannot be used for individuals. The highest amount a nonprofit can request is $1,000.
