South Putnam welcomes new principal at Fillmore, assistant principal at Central

Although the damaging storm left South Putnam School Corporation’s office without power, last Thursday’s special meeting carried on.

Board members Lisa Cooper, Joe Roach, Lee Cline and Hollie Hutcheson were present, approving the personnel recommendations for Amanda Gibboney as Fillmore Elementary School principal and Joanna Muncie as asst. principal at Central Elementary School.

“Mrs. Gibboney’s extensive background in educational professional development, curriculum development, educational technology integration, instructional design and coaching, STEM integration, grant writing and elementary school principal experience provides for a highly effective educational leader,” Dr. Corey Smith wrote in his recommending letter to the board.

Muncie has served for several years as the home-school liaison at Deer Meadow Primary school and, prior to that, taught at Ridpath Primary.

According to Smith, “Mrs. Muncie’s recommendations reflected the leadership capabilities and personal character experienced throughout the interview process,” the letter said.

The board approved the personnel recommendations, and both respective contracts began on July 1.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. in the South Putnam Middle/High School media center.
