City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six incidents since Tuesday evening:

• At 10:52 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to assist with the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department with a motor vehicle incident with injuries at 6357 S. CR 375 West. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:02 a.m. and assisted with patient care and cleaned up debris. GFD went back into service at 12:21 p.m.

• At about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded for smoke near the residence at 305 Jacob St. Upon investigation, it was found that a cable box near the residence was on fire. The fire was extinguished and no extensions were found. GFD did not provide arrival or in-service times.

• At about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 614 Crescent Dr. for an animal rescue. Firefighters found a dog with its chain wrapped in a tree and power lines and freed it, then securing it to the front porch of the residence. GFD did not provide arrival or in-service times.

• At 7:43 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle incident with injuries at 312 S. Bloomington St. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:45 and assisted with patient care. GFD went back into service at 7:54 p.m.

• At 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, GFD received a direct call for assistance with a water heater at 1020 S. College St. Firefighters arrived at 7:40 and did so. GFD went back into service at 8:02 p.m.

• At 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 458 Glenview Dr. to assist the homeowner with getting their garage door open. Firefighters arrived at 8:11 p.m. and did so. GFD went back into service at 8:28 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded to 14 medical assists, had one disregard and found no incident on one run during this timeframe.

GFD responded to 47 calls related to the storm on Thursday. Greencastle Fire Asst. Chief Rob Frank noted that the majority of the calls were for downed trees and power lines that had fallen into them.
