David Sherman Shillings

David Sherman Shillings, age 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 14, 2023, in Avon.

He was born on March 27, 1947, in Sunbright, Tenn., to the late Benjamin and Flossie Williams Shillings.

He married Karen Huffman and she survives.

David was a test mechanic for Allison in Indianapolis for over 50 years before his retirement.

He was a member of the West Newton Masonic Lodge No. 707, was an U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed to fish.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Shillings; children Shannon (Mark) Carr, Gregory (Tina Renee) Shillings, Ginger (John) Underwood, Joanna Yarnell, Mark (Kim) Tarter, Karey Smith and Jimmy (Renee) Yarnell; sister Carolyn ( Willard) Gunter; brother Harvey (Margaret) Shillings; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Yarnell, and a granddaughter, Kailee Marie Carr.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 11 a.m. in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
