Donald R. Bassett

Donald R. Bassett, age 81, of Greencastle, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023.

He was born in Greencastle on Feb. 20, 1942, to the late Albert and Eva Merel Butler.

He married Waneta A. (Bright) Bassett on July 21, 1967, and she survives.

He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Hurst-Collins Post of Cloverdale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Donald A. Bassett, and his wife Robin of Cloverdale; grandchildren Devin Bassett and Danielle Hubbard; one great-grandchild, Annabelle Bassett; and siblings John Butler and Pat Bright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Don will be held on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until service time.
