Missing Greencastle woman found Tuesday

An elderly Greencastle woman for which a statewide Silver Alert was declared was found Tuesday morning.

First responders located Juanita Austin, 91, in the Dunbar Heights area at about 10:20 a.m. She was found to not be seriously injured, with dehydration being the main concern.

Austin had been missing since she was last seen around 8 p.m. on Monday. The Silver Alert was declared early on Tuesday.

Cpl. Scott Ducker told the Banner Graphic that a search was first conducted Monday evening after Austin was reported missing. Putnam County deputies and Conservation Officers checked the area with drones.

Conservation Officers resumed with the search Tuesday, in which efforts were concentrated on Dunbar Heights. Utility task vehicles were utilized on the trails.

Ducker relayed that Austin was located in a neighbor’s backyard, not far from where she was last seen.
