Vehicle of missing Mecca woman found with human remains nearby
ROCKVILLE — The vehicle of a Parke County woman missing since June has been located.
Investigators also located human remains nearby.
On Sunday evening, an area realtor was showing a house to potential buyers in rural Rockville when they discovered the 2007 Ford Focus of Betty Jane Capps on the property.
Capps, 68, had been missing since late June.
The vehicle was located about 200 yards off the road, down an embankment.
Parke County sheriff’s deputies, Indiana State Police crime scene investigators and the Parke County Coroner’s Office have been on the scene investigating.
The remains have not been confirmed to be those of Capps.
“We will provide an update when more information becomes available,” Sheriff Jason Frazier said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.”
