FIRST RESPONDERS: Real Heroes Don’t Wear Capes

Friday, September 22, 2023

Scenes from the annual Banner Graphic "Salute to First Responders," which was published as a special insert to the Friday, Sept. 22 edition. Check out some of the hard work, honors and training in which our local responders have taken part over the last year.

Greencastle Fire Lt. Brock Beebe is cool as a large house fire rages in Monroe Township last Christmas Eve. A host of apparatuses and personnel from Putnam and Hendricks counties responded to the incident.

  • Great story but you forgot a group of people now being recognized as First Responders, our 911 communication employees. Without them none of these other First Responders would know when, where or what to respond too. These people are typically the first people to communicate with someone in distress. Hats off to all of these First Responders who work at the Putnam County 911 Communications Center.
