County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 10:16 a.m. Christopher R. Butler, 41, Crawfordsville, was booked in on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 2:34 p.m. Teresa B. Hall, 56, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant for burglary.

• At 1:48 p.m. Brandi N. Anderson, 47, Poland, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Monday

• At 7:58 p.m. Garry T. Woessner, 51, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 11:34 p.m. Tuesday, John W. Johnston, 37, Eastland, Texas, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Johnston was arrested at the Kork and Keg parking lot off Indianapolis Road after his vehicle got stuck on the curb as he attempted to exit the liquor store lot, Officer Chris Helmer reported.

Helmer arrested Johnston for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-refusal. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 1:57 p.m. Monday, Amber L. Bennett, 37, Fillmore, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at Market and Hill streets, Bennett was booked into the jail on a Putnam County warrant for violation of bond, relative to an original charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Two recent citations were issued by city officers:

• At 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Alexzandria Strader, 32, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped along Veterans Memorial Highway, Strader was cited for an expired license plate.

• At 6:28 p.m. Tuesday, Alexander Sefton, 21, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at South Jackson Street and Sunset Drive, Sefton was ticketed for an unsafe start.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two incidents recently:

• At 10:25 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Yuncker House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:28 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:30 a.m.

• At 12:23 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a gas leak near Domino’s Pizza on Bloomington Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:29 and monitored nearby buildings. No evacuations were needed. CenterPoint Energy was contacted, and GFD went back into service at 3:22 p.m. after work to stop the leak was completed.

Additionally, GFD responded for six medical assists in this timeframe.
