There are many opportunities for charitable giving throughout the year but one of the most enjoyable is attending the Greencastle Arts Council’s annual Bonne Soirée. Now in its fifth year, this festive celebration in support of local art and artists — with live music and great food in good company — will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 6–8:30 p.m. at The Inn at DePauw. As previous Soirées have sold out, attendees are advised to get tickets early.

Headlining this year’s “Showcase of the Arts” will be Greencastle’s own 10-time Blues Music Award nominee, singer Tad Robinson and his band, including Kevin Anker on Hammond organ, Brian Yarde on drums and vocalist Travis Feaster on guitar. The event also will feature display and sale of original works by established Putnam County visual artists as well as talented area high school students. Two West Bistro will provide a southern-style dinner, dessert buffet and a cash bar will be available.

Raffles, door prizes and silent auctions will offer attendees additional opportunities to support the group’s mission to build local arts capacity and deepen pride of place throughout Putnam County, including one-of-a-kind pieces donated by area artists. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through the event go toward supporting the mission of the Arts Council and funding community programming in the coming year.

Admission to the November event is $35 per person; full table sponsorships, which seat up to 10 guests, also are available for $350. Electronic tickets can be obtained online by visiting www.greencastleartscouncil.org. For assistance, contact soirée co-chairs Kathryn Dory (720-3287 / vicepresident@greencastleartscouncil.com) or Angie Wood (720-7644).

A frequent community collaborator, GAC partners regularly with the Civic League, Comprehensive Services, 10-Fold Projects Gallery, DePauw University, Main Street Greencastle, Putnam County Public Library, Putnam County Mural Project and the Putnam County Museum. Among upcoming programs that the fundraiser will help support are a spring celebration of the Solar Eclipse, through photograph, poetry and music; the annual Putnam County Adult Visual Arts Exhibition; free First Friday family art activities; monthly “Meet, Greet and (Friendly) Critiques”; co-sponsorship of the IU-Prison Arts Initiative and of the Putnam County Festival Choir.

The GAC thanks Bonne Soirée primary event sponsors Eric Wolfe and the Prime Real Estate Group, Old National Bank, Putnam County Community Foundation and Jedele Enterprises, and appreciates all community contributors helping to create a thriving arts presence in Putnam County.
