Board of Realtors to host final bingo fundraiser

Monday, October 30, 2023

The Putnam County Board of Realtors will host its 22nd and final bingo fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 11.

First chartered with the National Association of Realtors on Sept. 9, 1954, the local association will dissolve at the end of 2023.

Even with the local board coming to an end, the contributions previously made to the Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund and those raise on Nov. 11 will continue to benefit Putnam County scholars for years to come.

“We created an endowment with the Putnam County Community Foundation in 2006 in order to award scholarships to local high school seniors,” Board of Realtors Executive Director Diane Ummel said. “In 2009 PCBR began holding a community bingo event to raise additional funds for the endowment, and this will be our 22nd and final event.”

To date, more than $35,000 in scholarships has been awarded.

Even after the association disbands, the endowment will continue on as the Realtor Scholarship. It will grow each year and it will continue to pay out scholarships to qualified students through the annual foundation scholarship selection process.

Additionally, although the local association is dissolving, realtors will still be around serving the community.

“Our local realtors are not going away,” Ummel said. “They will continue to serve the community in the same way that they always have, as family, friends, neighbors and community partners with those that they call ‘clients.’”

For the upcoming event itself, doors to the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird games begin at 6 with the main games starting at 6:30.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Ticket allows play in 15 regular bingo games with six-card sheet, bonanza game, early bird game and door prize tickets.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Aames Title, Abstract & Title, Capstone Realty, Carpenter Realtors, Collins Evans Real Estate, F.C. Tucker Advantage, First National Bank Greencastle and Cloverdale, Fogle Real Estate, Prime Real Estate Group and Ruoff Mortgage.
