Nancy D. Andis

Nancy D. Andis, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023.

Nancy was born Feb. 15, 1933 in Greencastle to Edmond H. and Ethel L. (Hunt) Torr.

Nancy was a 1951 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Central Business College in Indianapolis.

She worked as the Putnam Circuit Court reporter. Later in life she was employed at DePauw University in the public relations department.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she served as secretary to the minister, chairman of the board, elder and deacon. She later attended Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Nancy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Past Worthy Matron. She was the first Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters Bethel 78.

She was initiated into the Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority in June 1951. She served in many offices in her local chapter (Theta) and province. In 2005-06 she served as the national president of DTT.

Nancy is survived by her children, Bruce (Tami) Andis of Jeffersonville, Brenda Brink of Noblesville, Brian (Anne) Andis of Apollo Beach, Fla., Bradley (Mindy) Andis of Newton, N.J., and Beth (Chris) Binkley of Holiday, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; companion Bayard Lee Allen; sister Sandra Sue Wittmer; and three nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel in 1980 and Edmond in 1994; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Rebekah Andis; and one great-grandchild, Emma Sue Tilley.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14 at the Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, 602 E. Washington St., Greencastle, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
