Maridee Ann Walsh Dozier, 75, of Brazil and formerly from Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1948 in Indianapolis to John Thomas “Jack” and Edna Ruth (Varvel) Walsh and was one of three sisters.

She met Ewell J.E. “Joe” Dozier II, and they were married on June 3, 1967.

She graduated from Russellville High School in 1967. She also obtained her medical assistant certification in 1991 and later went on to earn her real estate license.

She worked several jobs throughout her life, a Mary Kay consultant for many years, a cook for a DePauw fraternity, an assembler for Mallory Manufacturing, a real estate agent in Clay County and finally retired as a rural mail route carrier from the U.S. Postal Service. But throughout all those years she was a dedicated homemaker and mother to her children.

Maridee loved her flower gardens and trees and was known for always making sure her bird feeders were filled for the birds she loved. All her family knew that when a holiday or family function was gathered, they were going to have one of her “famous” pies! She loved the many dogs that graced her home throughout her life.

Survivors include her son, Samuel (Julie) Dozier; daughter Kattie (Scott) Crays; sisters, Connie (Jim) Hayes and Gail (David) Wittmer; grandchildren Jack, Alex (Cheyenne) Dozier, Rachel (Noah) Emmerich, Justin, Bridgette and Wyatt Crays; great-grandchild Theia Crays; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many cousins

Maridee was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna; her husband, Joe; and her infant children, Jason and Christine Dozier.

A memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Greencastle. A luncheon will follow in the parrish hall.
