Lola Elizabeth Crosby

Lola Elizabeth Crosby, 89, Roachdale, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023 at Avon Health Care.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1934 in Carpentersville, to the late Clifford and Catherine (Igo) Pickel.

She graduated from Roachdale High School in 1952.

On Aug. 15, 1953, she married John Edward Crosby. John passed away June 29, 2010.

Lola was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church and served as Sunday school teacher and youth group leader in prior years. She had been a Brownie leader and member of Delta Theta Tau in the past.

She worked for North Putnam School Corporation in several capacities, as well as Area 30 Childcare. Lola also provided in-home childcare for several years and is remembered by many who grew up under her loving care. She loved shopping and being with family. Her grandchildren were her No. 1 priority.

She is survived by her five children, Kathy (David) Bibby, Jim (Brenda) Crosby, Carolyn (Tony) Hughes, Barb (Richard) Robbins and Jan (Randy) White, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Liz Crosby; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, one sister, grandson Michael Robbins, beloved nephews Michael and Joe Morphew and brother-in-law James “Dick” Crosby.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 at Roachdale Presbyterian Church, 14 N. Indiana St., Roachdale, with Pastor David Bower officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service.
