Painting the School Red

Thursday, January 25, 2024
For perhaps just a little bit on Thursday afternoon, the school colors of Tzouanakis Intermediate turns from purple and gray to bright red as Cincinnati Reds mascot Mr. Redleg gives high fives to a group of fifth-graders. The west tour of the Reds Caravan brought a group of Reds representatives to the Greencastle school that also included President of Baseball Operations Nick Krall, Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman, former player and broadcaster Jeff Brantley, former player Corky Miller, pitcher Carson Spiers and minor leaguers Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurtubise. The group took part in a meet-and-greet with a small group of students before speaking to the entire fifth grade in the gymnasium. They finished the visit by taking a picture with the entire class and tossing out some souvenir balls before hitting the road.

  • So cool! My son told me all about it! He’s a huge Reds fan. :)

  • This was a wonderful experience for our students and we appreciate the opportunity to be invited to participate. Thanks to the Banner Graphic and Mr. Jernagan for the coverage.
