Lily Monnett breaks DePauw track record

For the first time in her career DePauw University women’s track and field, junior Lily Monnett (Cloverdale, Ind./Cloverdale) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field: Mid./Distance Athlete of the Week.

Monnett competed in 3,000m run at the Blue-White Classic this weekend at Indiana State, where she not only finished in first place but also broke the seven-year-old program record for the race. Monnett’s record-breaking time of 10:15.27 helped her surpass her sister and previous record holder Claudia Monnett (10:16.87).

The Tigers’ next meet is back here in Greencastle. DePauw will host the DePauw Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. in the Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
