The next session of Dine with a Doc is set for 10 a.m.-noon on Monday, Feb. 26 at Putnam County Hospital, featuring the PCH Cardiopulmonary Rehab department.

Dine with a Doc is a free community-based program that welcomes the local senior public to get to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch.

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically-supervised program, staffed with experienced cardiac nurses, for people who have had a heart attack, heart failure, heart valve surgery, heart transplants, coronary artery bypass grafting, stable angina or percutaneous coronary intervention (stents or angioplasty).

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department at Putnam County Hospital provides comprehensive cardiovascular services that include monitored cardiac rehab, cardiac rehabilitation maintenance, pulmonary rehabilitation, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, Holter and event monitoring, cardiac stress testing (treadmill, nuclear and echo), health and wellness coaching, supervised exercise therapy for peripheral artery disease and heart failure education, monitoring and follow-up.

Cardiac Rehab involves adopting heart-healthy lifestyle changes to address risk factors for cardiovascular disease and to help encourage lifestyle changes. The program includes exercise training, education on heart-healthy living and counseling to help reduce stress and return to an active lifestyle.

Research has found that cardiac rehabilitation programs can reduce your risk of death from heart disease and reduce your risk of future heart problems. The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology recommend cardiac rehabilitation programs.

Seniors are invited to come to PCH, 1542 Bloomington St., Greencastle, to learn about ways to improve their quality of life. A question-and-answer period will follow the discussion.

Dine with a Doc takes place the fourth Monday of every month at PCH. The program is a community effort of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, the senior citizens, local churches and area businesses coming together for the good of all to serve the senior citizens.
