Margaret Mae Ross

Margaret Mae Ross (nee Shearer), aka Margaret Pike, of Saint Paul, Minn., passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2024 at the age of 87.

Margaret was born on Nov. 3, 1936 in New Winchester to the late Marion “Tiny” and Mable Shearer, who died giving birth to her. She was raised by her father and mother Anna Shearer.

Margaret was known for her kind and storytelling nature. She was a former longtime resident of DeWitt, Ark., and Greencastle and enjoyed talking about her life in both places.

She had a passion for hunting, farming, flying planes, gardening, cooking and caring for animals. Her love for the outdoors and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. Her love and devotion to her only son, “Tiny Bill,” was clear to anyone who was in earshot.

She is survived by her son, William “Tiny Bill” Pike (Alissa); grandchildren Alex and Fletcher Pike, William (Amy) Lowery and Chelsea Lowery; and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister JoLu.

Margaret will be buried next to her father in the New Winchester Cemetery at a later date. No service is planned at this time.
