Paul Manford Pitts

Paul Manford Pitts, 89, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at The Waters of Greencastle.

Paul was born in Greencastle on Feb. 22, 1935, the son of Donald F. and Helen (Cooper) Pitts, and was a 1953 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He worked for IBM for 33 years, where he worked his way into management. He retired when IBM closed in 1987.

Mr. Pitts was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee for many years.

He married the love of his life, JoAnn Pitts, on April 7, 1954, and she survives.

He is also survived by his two children, Sally Martin (Mike) and Michael Paul Pitts; four grandchildren, Jerry Martin (Rachel), Kate Duncan (Josh), Jordyn Pitts and Blaine Pitts (Kali); six great-grandchildren, Lane and Easton Martin and Madeline, Georgianna, Isabelle and Olivia Duncan; two step-great-grandchildren, Carter and Wren Ames; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Blaine Pitts; a brother, Donald Dale “Sonny” Pitts; and three sisters, Colleen Clearwaters, Wanita Young and Barbara Green.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8 at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery with Pastor Pat Smith officiating. Friends and family may arrive at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
