Ronald A. Lotz, age 88, of Greencastle, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1935, in Longview, Wash., to the late Eric and Dorcus (Baeressen) Lotz.

Ronald married Sandra Lou (Newberger) Lotz on May 31, 1992, and she survives.

Ronald studied engineering at UCLA, where he met his first wife, Rose Ann White, and they married in May of 1955.

He retired from Allison Gas Turbine and relocated to Sun City West, Ariz., where he lived until he and Sandy returned to family in Indiana in 2023.

He was an avid cyclist who toured cross country on several occasions, as well as touring across Canada and Europe. Ron was an adventurer and enjoyed hiking, backpacking and anything outdoors. He enjoyed traveling the world and spending time in India, Nepal and New Zealand. He hiked the Himalayas and climbed to 800 feet above Mount Everest’s base camps. Ron enjoyed boating and purchased his beloved Friar Tuck and completed the Great Loop. He loved woodworking, classic cars and working with his hands.

Ron truly lived his life each day with a spirit for adventure and love for his family, in particular his loving wife, Sandy, with whom he shared so many adventures. He was a loyal and honorable man who will be dearly missed by many.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Brian (Lynn) Lotz, Kevin (Ginny) Lotz, Kim (Scott) Truman, Greg (Lisa) Easter, Bruce (Cindy) Easter and Heidi Phipps; brothers Kenton Lotz and Steven (Gretchen) Lotz; grandchildren Jason (Megan) Lotz, Rachel (Seth) Barrier, Erica (Dane) Burnett, Tyler (Jessica) Lotz, Justin Burdette, Josh (Grayce) Burdette, James Easter, Ali (Andrew) Mendenhall, Garren Truman, Colandro Truman, Hayden Phipps, Maya Phipps, Addi Phipps and Grant Berger; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life for Ronald will be held at a later date.
