John Russell Wharton

John Russell Wharton, 78, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

He was born Aug. 28, 1945 in Terre Haute, the son of Otis Walton and Flossie Ellen (Taylor) Wharton, and was a student of West Vigo High School.

John was a professional tool and die maker for several years for Lobdell Emory, Greencastle, and later for Toyota in Vincennes. He was a member of the UAW.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charley Wharton; and his companion, Nancy Huber.

John is survived by his son, Gary (Jennifer) Wharton; daughter Nicky Wharton and fiance Brandon Moore; sisters Laura (Carl) Miller and Rose O’Neal; and grandchildren Quentin, Jeremiah, Alexandra, Hadleigh, Jace and Christain.

Memorial services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at the Forest Hill Cemetery mausoleum.
