LETTER: Many contributed to success of Ag Day 2024

Tuesday, March 19, 2024

To the Editor:

“Sowing the Seeds of Success” was the theme celebrated at the 2024 Putnam County Ag Day event held on Saturday, March 9, where families came together to learn about a farmer’s everyday life.

Ag Day kicked off its festivities with an Ag Day breakfast followed by a short program by Aiden Beadles, Colts High School Man of the Year.

Awards were also presented for Friend of the Farmer, Farmer of the Year and Putnam County Farm Bureau’s Ag Production in Putnam County photo contest.

Immediately following the program was the Mini Farm Fest where families participated in hands-on activities and had the opportunity to interact with live farm animals, sample milk and popcorn, view farm equipment, view a farm movie in the barn theater and much more.

Our goal of reaching out to teach the community of Putnam County about the importance of agriculture could not have been achieved without the support of our many sponsors and exhibitors, including Putnam County Farm Bureau Inc., Putnam County Community Foundation, Farm Credit Mid-America, First Financial Bank, First National Bank, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, North Salem State Bank, Old National Bank, Tri County Bank, Almost Home, Burger King, McDonald’s, Putnam Inn and Subway.

Also, Putnam County Farm Bureau Insurance, North Putnam FFA, South Putnam FFA, Cloverdale FFA, Keystone Cooperative, Purdue Extension of Putnam County, SWCD, AHW Rockville John Deere, Humphreys Outdoor Power, Bane Welker Equipment, Chandler’s Fruit and Vegetable Farm, Indiana Soybean Alliance, York Automotive, Putnam County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Grateful Gardens CSA, Putnam County Beekeepers Association, Putnam County 4-H Llama and Alpaca Club, Purdue Club of Putnam County, Noah Poynter Media, Poynter Aerial Ag, 2023 Miss Putnam County Katie Fry, Woodall Family Goats, Beadles Family Sheep, Cantonwine Family Rabbits and the Putnam County 4-H Poultry Club.

Thank you also to Mark Evans for leading the event in devotion and prayer. Many thanks also to the Banner Graphic for its timely press coverage of the event.

Gratefully,
Heather Poynter
Ag Day Coordinator
