Kevin David Bitzer

Kevin David Bitzer, 65, passed away on April 27, 2024 at home in Georgetown, Ky., with his wife and soulmate at his side.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1958, the son of Wendell and Marlene (Twomey) Bitzer.

Kevin was a 1976 graduate of Greencastle High School and a 1980 graduate of IU Kelley School of Business.

He married his high school sweetheart, Teresa (Barr) Bitzer, on Dec. 28, 1979.

He began his career with Lafayette National Bank and was hired by IBM in 1986. During his career with IBM, he worked in Greencastle, Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Lexington, Ky. He retired from IBM in 2013 as a business operations manager.

Kevin was an avid fisherman, enjoyed mushroom hunting and treasured time with his three granddaughters playing board games, fishing, paddle boating and exploring their lake and woods. He also enjoyed playing cards with his cousins Bob, Rick and Tim Bitzer. We will miss his brilliant wit, embellished storytelling, generous heart and dedication to his family and friends.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teresa; two children, Megan (Josh) Iranpour of Georgetown, Ky., and Matthew (Laura) Bitzer of New Castle, Del.; three granddaughters, Charlotte and Chloe Iranpour and Amelia Bitzer; and two sisters, Lisa (Keith) Mondale of Denver, N.C., and Lorie (David) Zandi of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Janet Barr of Fishers, and his brother-in-law, Steve Barr, also of Fishers.

He was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law Edward Barr.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
