Moose Lodge to host inaugural car show

Monday, May 13, 2024

Moose Lodge 1592 is hosting its inaugural car and vehicle show on Saturday, May 18.

The event will take place at the lodge, 212. W. Franklin St., Greencastle. The rain date will be Sunday, May 19.

The Moose is a fraternal organization that cares for children, seniors and local communities. Specifically, the organization supports Mooseheart, located in Illinois, a home for children from all social classes who don’t have families to care for them. Some of these children have lost one or both of their parents, and others simply live in conditions not conducive to a healthy lifestyle.

These children live and are educated at Mooseheart and then helped with the college applications to get them started on the right foot in life.

Moosehaven is located in Orange Park, Fla., and many seniors retire there for assisted living and nursing care.

The vehicle show is open to all kinds of cars, trucks, tractors, rat rods, motorcycles and other types of vehicles. Registration will be from 10 a.m.-noon and $15 per vehicle, with each participant receiving a goodie bag and dash plaque.

Top prizes will be awarded to the participants, voted on by the participants themselves, votes from the public, a kids’ favorite, Moose pick and a Best of Show award.

The Moose will be selling meals for $5 for choice of a hot dog or hamburger, chips and a soda.

Women of the Moose Chapter 138 will also be conducting a bake sale that day with all sorts of homemade goodies.

There will be music and drawings throughout the day for the participants to win door prizes that have been donated by several local businesses and surrounding communities.
