Cloverdale defeats Turkey Run
Staff reports
CLOVERDALE -- A pair of 39s from Sean Rhine and Michael Glassburn on Tuesday at Clover Meadows led Cloverdale golf past Turkey Run, 163-176.
Clover coach Doug Wokoun was pleased with the way his team is beginning to play late in the season.
"We played much better and are moving in a better direction. Sean and Michael both had very good rounds, especially with the windy conditions," Wokoun said.
Besides the co-medalist efforts from Rhine and Glassburn, the Clovers got a 42 from Andrew Cofer and a 43 from Justin Hacker. Kevin Gregg and Mike Wellington finished outside the scoring with scores of 45 and 58, respectively.
The Warriors were lead by a 40 from Austin Cook. Wokoun did not want to discount the effort from the Clovers' opponent, which he considered a talented team.
"Turkey Run is a young team, and they are going to get better. They struggled a little last night, but they have some talent," he said.
The Clovers return to the links Thursday at 4:30 p.m. when they visit Martinsville.
