Obama supporters plan rally today
A group of area residents and students have thrown their political support behind candidate Barack Obama in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The group will gather at 8:30 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Fluttering Duck in the Walden Inn to watch Obama and Hillary Clinton debate in Cleveland, Ohio.
The debate begins at 9 p.m. They are organizing DePauw University students to go to Ohio this coming weekend to canvas and plan to make phone calls to voters in Ohio and Texas on the March 4 primary day. They will then turn their focus to the May 6 Indiana primary and voter registration.
"This is the first time in decades that voters in Indiana will have a say in who our presidential candidates are going to be. So we are very excited," says Obama supporter Kelsey Kauffman.
Anyone wanting to get involved can contact Kauffman at 653-6225, or David Dietz, one of the student organizers, at daviddietz_2011@depauw.edu
