Local candidate forums planned
The Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE Radio and the Banner Graphic are co-sponsoring two Candidate Forums for the Putnam County community.
The first will be held Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on DePauw's campus.
The forum will be broadcast live on WGRE radio and on Greencastle's local cable access Channel 3.
This forum will feature candidates running for the state legislature. Debating at the forum will be Richard Bray and Joseph F. Osborn, candidates for State Senate, District 24; and Amos Thomas, Nancy Michael, and Darrel Goldman candidates for State Representative, District 44.
Connie Lawson, unopposed candidate for State Senate, District 44 will also be in attendance to give a statement.
The second forum will be held Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Watson Forum, and will feature candidates running for county offices.
Debating at the second forum will be Denny Bridges and Kraig Kinney, candidates for Superior Court Judge; Sharon Owens and Amanda Wells Mullenix, candidates for County Treasurer; Gene Beck and Gene Clodfelter, candidates for County Commissioner, District 1; Kristina Warren and Terry Clifford, candidates for County Commissioner, District 3; and Nancy Fogle, Larry Parker, Opal Sutherlin, Bette Bertram and Dale Pierce, candidates for County Council At-Large.
Stephanie Summitt-Campbell, unopposed candidate for County Auditor and Thomas Miller, unopposed candidate for County Coroner will also be in attendance to give a statement.
At the conclusion of both forums audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates. Refreshments will be served.
