Marian Elma Gregson Phillips, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Brownsburg Healthcare Center.

She was born Nov. 1, 1919, in Amo to Clyde and Clara Gregson. She married Virgil "Sam" Phillips Sept. 27, 1941.

Mrs. Phillips lived most of her life in Amo. She graduated from Amo High School and Indiana Business College. She worked for many years at insurance agencies in and near Amo.

She was a lifelong member of Amo United Methodist Church until transferring her membership to Plainfield United Methodist Church, after moving to Plainfield in 1990. She was also a member of Amo Coterie and Delta Sigma Kappa Beta Chapter.

Survivors include her sons Douglas and wife Connie of Coatesville, David and wife Marian of Danville and Jerry and wife Nona of Orlando, Fla.; daughters Joyce Walker and Marcia Phillips of Indianapolis; sister Lois Albertson of Terre Haute; sister-in-law Mary Gregson of Plainfield; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Virgil "Sam" Phillips, brother Gaylord Gregson and sisters Helen Bunten, Hildred Hollingsworth and Louise Hollowell preceded her in death..

The family would like to thank the staff of Brownsburg Healthcare for their wonderful care of our mother and grandmother during the past two years and for the amazing support you've provided to us during the last weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Amo Cemetery.
